Kharkiv Philharmonic Society
One of the most famous buildings in Rymarska Street is the building of Kharkiv Philharmonic Society (21, Rymarska Street). In 1858 the first membership clubs similar to the English Club was opened here. Later it was sold to Kharkiv Merchants’ Society which opened a commercial club here. In the early 1990s merchants gave it to the Opera House which had been located there for about 100 years. After the theatre moved to a new building, the old one was given to Kharkiv Philharmonic Society. Having unique acoustics, this building is a national monument of architecture.
