The building of the Kharkiv Region State Administration

The eastern part of the square opposite the monument to Lenin features a large 6-storey office building, constructed in 1954 for the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. It was designed by V. Kostenko and V. Orekhov in the same style with the Kharkiv Hotel.

A monument to Y. Shcherbinin, the first Kharkiv Governor, was put up close to the central entrance to the building of Kharkiv Region State Administration in 2004.
